Taking 3-4 seconds to load with all files when opening. The prev version did not take any time in loading.

I keep about 9 files opened in my Sumatra for procrastination reasons. The new version is taking 3-4 seconds to load all, whereas the prev version did not take any time, it was absolutely instant.

@RayReddingtonx Helps to know something about the version your using 3.4.4 or current pre-release

Also what file types/sizes, so are they 9 ginormous compressed ePub or PDF as both types generally need full decompression to see their contents, thus larger less compressed files oddly can be quicker to load and show.

3.4.4 and now 5. All files are small regular pdf ones. Earlier it used to take zero seconds to open/load all files.

ok perhaps try logging the opening from closed so copy a SumatraPDF shortcut (may or may not have" at the end, keep them if it does) and add with the space -log

start SumatraPDF and then open an explorer window or any search / addressbar

type in %LocalAppData% and enter should show you the folder where the logfile is with timings

In the appdata>Local> SumatraPDF folder, there are only dll, and two text setting files, and a cache, and the start icon. How to open that target file option to register the log file? You didnt mention it. There is no log text. Even your log shows it takes 4 seconds, so isn't it a problem? Wasn't the previous one taking no time to load?

The file is not inside SumatraPDF folder (that may not always exist) so it is in main AppData Local the folder as %LocalAppData%

those are not 4 seconds they are 4/1000 seconds 870 ms = 0.9 seconds and that was after a much longer sequence.

thanks, you didn't tell me about editing the shortcut file from its properties and adding "-log" to do this trick to work. This is my log and long errors of the font. I guess the loading time is only due to the font error. It's very long. Tell me how to fix it. It's not a problem with a particular Greek font in pdf coz there are other Greek font pdf which is showing no time in loading. Even after removing this first pdf from the tab, it is taken the same or worse time.

@kjk looks like serif is causing a delay should that not be fallback to Roman Times ( or better Gregorian Timing)

I am sure, I deleted some fonts from the windows system fonts foldwer, thinking them as useless, I did shift+delete, and that's what causing this error: couldn't find system font 'serif' and DejavuSerif ..

Update: Now its loading perfectly in 3.3 but does the same delay and show same Font errors during the log opening, which is a copy of the shortcut. When I am opening it through original shortcut or my usual pinned one, its opening perfectly like before, no time. I am sticking with this 3.4.3 version now. I was worried which font caused this, i only downloaded I didnt do anything wrong with the fonts. I am not gonna update this now. huhh. If it aint broken dont try to fix it.
