Add reference information for cohort instructors and... #109

...make some mechanism for Students to easily access it and notify us that they will be using it.

What does this look like?

My thoughts are some kind of check boxes at the bottom of the Job Application form that say "Use Sumeet as a reference" and "Use Alex as a reference" that when selected:

  1. reveal our contact info in the job application show page for easy access (see #110)
    • Another, not mutually exclusive thought: This contact info could be added to the Event described below. Having a hard time figuring out what is best.
  2. and add an Event on the Job Application's Entry with a message like: "Student name plans to use Instructor's name as a reference for this job. See their info and other details of the job application", with the last sentence being a link to the Job Application show page.

I think just adding a fake event (like the one I have in there already) with both our reference info would be best. Keepin' it simple.

There's not a need for students to opt into using us as references. They always will, if they're asked for references. Giving the information at the outset helps them have it in a handy place.

If you're talking more about how students let us know that they have officially given our info as references for a particular job, I think just adding a comment to that effect is better than having UI built for it specifically.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. Though there could be a button next to our contact info that say "Use me as a reference" that, when clicked, creates a real event and notifies us... 😮 Thoughts?

That sounds a bit overengineered to me. I think at some point, we'll want buttons for shortcut actions, but I envision that more for things like "Add Interview" and "Add Technical Assessment" where they would fill in some additional details. We don't really need to be notified each time we're used as a reference (Most of the time, references aren't even contacted). So I'd rather the reference info be easily accessible and people try their best to add comments letting us know that we might get a call or email.
