Parts Pack for Kerbal Space Program, featuring ISS-inspired habitation, science lab and other crew compartments for building space stations and planetary outposts.
Note: The racks themselves will most likely be spun off as its own add-on, but as its chief user is FusTek, detail specifications will be defined here for the time being.
Dimensions and Form Factors
For simplicity, all modular payload racks used in FusTek will be of one standard size and shape.
Intended Usage
Modular payload racks in FusTek would be primarily used for holding and transferring certain types of resources between vessels / space stations / outposts, such as:
Metal, Ore and RocketParts for Extraplanetary Launchpads / Orbital Construction
KIS-style containers whose contents are accessible via EVA
Battery packs, for adding ElectricCharge storage
Monopropellant tanks, for stationkeeping and fuel for orbital tugs / drones
Xenon tanks
A special Science variant would be used to support up to eight (8) MIX drawer; each MIX drawer could either be an actual experiment, supporting hardware such as data drives or even specialist consumables used by some experiments.
Modular payload racks in FusTek would not support the following (at least, not initially / officially):
Life support consumables and waste products, such as food, water, oxygen, waste, wasteWater and carbon dioxide; these are intended to be transferred internally from FusTek Resupply Modules (seriously, who on earth Kerbin would go on a spacewalk just to grab a box of sandwiches?)
Liquid fuel and oxidizer; as per the FAQ, FusTek simply does not do large fuel silos.
Supporting Hardware
Karmony Warehouse Module: Holds up to 16 racks of any type inside a rotating magazine rack (Infernal Robotics)
FusTek External rack Carrier (small): Holds up to 2 racks of any type, and is often mounted on the bottom / sides of selected Karmony modules
FusTek External rack Carrier (large): Same as above, but with capacity for up to 4 racks
FusTek unpressurized half-length Science Experiments module: Holds up to 8 Science variant racks; may possibly include a built-in experiments airlock (not for EVA)
Note: The racks themselves will most likely be spun off as its own add-on, but as its chief user is FusTek, detail specifications will be defined here for the time being.
