Alarm Fires, But No Sound #35

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set alarm for 3 minutes in the future (since you just got the app and 
want to test what the sound and volume will be for tomorrow morning).
2. Click "Start tracking"
3. After 3 minutes, the screen shows the pretty beach scene, with "Good 
Morning!", but no sound ever plays.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
 * Expected: some sound and/or vibration.
 * Instead: No sound or vibration.

Which phone model do you have?
Nexus one.

Please provide any additional information below.
 * I have checked all the sound settings I could find -- sounds are not 
muted.
 * The phone is connected to a USB port.  I have checked Settings, 
Applications, Development, Stay awake to work around accelerometer bug.

Update: so I went ahead and plugged phone in to try it.  I woke up when a sound 
played.  
That sound: a notification that the alarm was stopping after 20 minutes.  So 
the phone 
plays sounds (here, a notification sound), but there was no sound from the 
alarm 
itself.  Currently it appears I would be awoken 20 minutes after whenever Smart 
Alarm 
Clock thinks I should be awoken.
