Cant turn the program off indefinately until I want to restart it

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Installing the program on a HTC Desire
2.Running the program
3.Trying to end the program through any force stops.  It will just start 
the program again the following night and alarm the next morning

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The program will turn itself on every night and also the alarm will go off 
each morning even if I try and turn off the program.  I cant seem to stop 
it running.  The only option I have is to uninstall it and i dont want to 
because some nights I want to use it but because I have a HTC Desire and I 
ahve to leave my backlight on all night, some nights i dont want to use it.

Which phone model do you have?

Same problem on HTC Incredible. No way to have the application not do alarm 
every morning. Even if I never tell it to 'start tracking'. Have even tried 
doing 'start tracking' and then 'cancel tracking' when the notification appears 
(the night before) or 1 hr before alarm time. Thought maybe the 'Start 
Automatically' in setings was on but it wasn't.

Also, when I want to use it I turn the night deskclock on to keep the screen 
active (because of the msg that it cannot track when screen is off) but the 
alarm still goes off even if I am not tracking and the screen has been off all 
night.
