I've made a few small improvements, some of which I'd mentioned in #1 but weren't quite properly addressed.

I've also then raised #2, #3 and #4 to capture some other valuable improvements for the UX of the widget.

Thanks, Joe, for this pull request! :) Regarding the issues you've created, I've assigned them to myself. I'll work on fixing them, and I'll also be improving the UI
