A related question - If/when should we expect this fork to be merged into the original?
I know for myself, I have a good deal of work I still want to do. But I'm wondering if there is any kind of deadline coming up, or if we're all just going to keep plugging away on the fork indefinitely.
Perhaps we should set our own deadline. Say, October 15th or November 1st? Maybe we can do a release happy hour afterward?
I, too, have a ton of work to finish on the data entry and I'd like to keep working on it, but I feel like I need a deadline to keep me motivated.
Also, I'm on vacation for the next few weeks, so I'll be MIA until the first full week of October. Will you all still be hanging out at the Code for Philly meetups?

I agree that a deadline is a great motivator and I can attend some Code for Philly meetups. Perhaps we can let each other know which ones we will attend via this thread.
I could still work on design iterations if the team could give their opinions on my samples (https://github.com/summer-of-open-source/schoolbudget.phl.io/issues/9), but I also do need to get GitHub set up so I can properly code my designs.
I like November 1st as a deadline. I'm gonna shoot for that. And we should definitely have a release get-together!
Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make Code For Philly for awhile. I work Thursday night, and I have a class in the evening on Tuesday. But I'll definitely be working remotely, and if anyone feels like hanging out to code on a Wednesday, let me know. I'll be there.
Great idea for the deadline. Also once it's merged into the original project, you can most definitely keep working on the project! You will just be forking and Pull-Requesting the original repo instead of the GDI one. :)

That's a good deadline! And I am going to a GitHub class tomorrow so I should finally be able to actually work on the code and be more productive in my designs.
Anyone attending the Code for Philly meet up tomorrow night?
I was chatting with Cat about when we are going to meet again to continue work on the project. The next Code for Philly meetup is thursday, but that is the same night as the GDI happy hour. They haven't posted more dates yet (http://www.meetup.com/Code-for-America-Philly/).
