Replying to your KUserFeedback concerns #1

I will make an effort to hopefully clear up one of your concerns:

You indicate that we track data when we are disabled. This is a misconception that unfortunately got spread from misunderstanding the code.

There is a feature to show a "do you want to help KDE" notification after N launches or after N hours. Naturally this needs to run when telemetry is off. This is why you see things collected in that file. See ProviderPrivate::scheduleEncouragement . It is entirely local and like any other config value. Local applications collecting local information for local purposes isn't noteworthy, many things do that already. It's not noteworthy.

DataSources are not run, see the code. They also store their data in ~/.local/share/plasmashell/kuserfeedback/

It also does not "consume resources" after this point something easily proved in a profiler.

Yeah, sure! And the anti-systemd movement is just FUD! XD @summertimetech if you want to run KDE without telemetry (i.e. with telemetry completely removed) there exists an initiative to create a telemetry-free fork. For now it is available only for the systemd-free version of Arch, what Obarun actually is. You can see it being mentioned as "the most extensive distribution that meets the criteria" on the: hardcore list of linux distributions without elogind and other systemd parts. Also Firefox has an option to disable telemetry, but LibreWolf was born nonetheless... Also VSCode has an option to disable telemetry, but VSCodium was born nonetheless... ...and also an open-source Sublime clone has been made, it's called CudaText! ;) If you want to know more, you can contact me on https://t.me/Samo_Pisarna
