Agree. I guess it should play with the audio muted.
Optional features: basic controls to enable sound, replay video, skip etc.
It's up to you, but I feel like it could make more sense to play with audio enabled by default. If you don't want to hear the sound, it's usually very easy to mute your TV (instead having to find some settings in the AppleTV). Doing it the other way around seems a little unintuitive to me. I just imagine people instinctively trying to increase the volume, because they can't hear anything and then wondering what's going on and why there is no sound (although you could just display a muted sign somewhere I guess).

I have no idea if this will technically be possible, but it sure would be great to auto-play video files if they come up in the slide-show.
