On-Click Unbrick can't seem to see the phone over the USB port

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Turn off phone, remove battery, reboot computer (or don't, either way the 
outcome is the same)
2. Plug USB into computer
3. Plug USB into phone (still no response by phone)
4. Press down and up buttons, and power, trying to go into download mode (fail, 
phone is still black)
5. put battery into phone (immediately I see phone..!..computer image
6. press "unsoftbrick" button.
7. try other combinations of the above [all with no change in result]

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I was hoping to see my phone unbricked. Instead I see:
Unbrick Commanded! Failed.
Unspecified Error. 
Is your phone plugged in?
Is it in Download/Softbrick mode?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.FINAL
2. Os X Lion
3. heimdall is installed and working on this OS (as that's how I bricked my 
phone in the first place)

Please provide any additional information below.

Mac can't be used for reporting problems.  They have poor hardware.  Use 
another computer.

i have same issue but my error is red text stating low battery cant go download 
mode.However if i leave it plugged in long time it stops boot looping.The 
boot-loop screen is "firmware error run kies" the same screen is displayed 
after the phone has turned itself off ,also if i command it the phone enters 
download mode.why the battery is gay idk.i ordered one today.Anyway i triyed to 
flash the wrong firmwar now odin and every other tool i have used cannot see 
the phone in download mode..im running win 7 and have good drivers but i have 
never plugged the phone in at a working state to let win fetch the ini info it 
needs to actually install it for use with usb mass storage,and adb purposes.i 
have a  sam gal s2 (sprint) and have a bad nand partition and need a way to 
force the hardware id to my pc so i can use the tools available. the phone is 
unreadable in any instance of operation by my pc.The problem began when i tried 
to flash file named FF11_TW_ICS_TWRP-2.1.8 with odin,the result was soft brick 
screen with a yellow triangle saying"unable to download firmware,open kies and 
run the restore" or something to that extent.im posting and hoping u,yes you 
might be able to help me get this phone restored so i can root.flash it.also 
epic failure on my part.The phone is not rooted before i ran the software 
through odin
