Just heads up, there is something wrong in this python code as C based sample works ok(so I know wiring is correct). Just get some garbage in screen.

@jvalkeal Please provide more information, did any error prompt?

I tried it myself. It is not writing anything to the LCD so it could be an issue with my wiring. There aren't any errors as far as I can see.
