There aren't a lot of candidates here. States don't do much R&D, and grants that they offer are often published pretty far down in their organizational structures (e.g., a department at a state university). There aren't standards in the sciences (or, rather, there are a lot of standards in the sciences) about how to publish research data, so it's not realistic to expect states to aggregate all state-funded research results into a single file.
Perhaps a domain expert will have ideas.
Have an email out to one - we could hold on this or eliminate it. I would be happier eliminating this category than the general statistics category.
Failed to connect with my contact this week (my fault.) Let's hold on this one until next week.
Select the one dataset that serves as the touchstone of state-level science and research data.
