Currently, my recommendation for this would be a revealjs theme and a template repo. Revealjs presentations can also easily be built with a number of tools, including Quarto. Most importantly, a theme like this is version controllable and easily reusable.
This page from the Quarto docs is particularly helpful: https://quarto.org/docs/presentations/revealjs/
See https://github.com/wtbarnes/sunpy-presentation-template for current progress.
I'd like to propose adding the above template as a repo under the sunpy project. Not sure what the best way to decide on that would be.
There are several of us who give SunPy update talks at various meetings throughout the year and this will likely increase with the uptick in in-person meetings again. It would be nice to have a single base template for building these presentations, both to alleviate the work on the person making the presentation as well as to make our "branding" (for lack of a better word) more consistent.
In particular, it would be nice if this template (and all derived presentations) could be version-controllable. I really like the look of the slides from the SPD Workshop last year, but I do not like that they are trapped within Google Office Suite. This makes it a pain to reuse (unless you're just copying slides over) and to organize.
Is there some way we could recreate the look of this template in a format that is version-controllable?
