The PPCoin client copyright isn't owned by Peercoin.net, it's owned by the PPCoin and Bitcoin developers. See license information from the ppcoin readme : https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin/blob/master/doc/README

Should be Peercoin developers not PPcoin per rebranding.
