6 years ago What version of macOS are you using?
I was able to reproduce it some random times on 10.12. But never on 10.13.
Also, the default Yahoo stock widget has the same problem randomly when you try to add a new symbol.
I will investigate it further

I’m using 10.13.3. Bug appears to happen when Safari is already full screen. Minimising Safari seems to not present the bug. It seems to me that Safari (or any open window) causes the bug. Is the Text View box in the very front? I had a similar bug in one of my apps and it was the Label which was not at the very front of the View.

Key repeat being lowered definitely helped, though not removing the bug, it made it less likely to occur.

The entry box for the currency calculator has an issue in MacOs where keyboard entry does not work unless the the task bar is opened and closed then re-opened. It seems that the calculator label is not in front of the window.
