So it would seem that Sony has released a new version of their firmware that finally deals with warning screen but its still a nagging 15 seconds before it goes away. Can you update this newer firmware Dave to remove the screen? Now we cant even get the old firmware version to use your patch with.. Is there anyway to get a copy of 1.02.06 so i can use Dave's Firmware?

Gimno commented 6 years ago

Hello, same question here!

ralf1991 commented 6 years ago

You can get a copy of the 1.02.06 Stock Firmware (EU) here: http://hav.update.sony.net/DL/EU/XAV-AX100_V10206.ZIP

MrCaspan commented 6 years ago

thanks i got mine updated!

rorkeshire commented 6 years ago

Hey MrCaspan - How did you downgrade your firmware to 1.02.06? Using the link above gives me a "incompatible data" error when attempting to flash my US XAV-AX100. Did you find a version elseswhere?

Gimno commented 6 years ago

Hey, the FW above is original Stock FW. Downgrade from 1.02.07 is not possible, this time.

ralf1991 commented 6 years ago

Daves Firmware was detected as 1.02.07 but after update it was 1.02.06 again. When I open the Stock Firmware files (this should be full update) with a Hex Editor I can change these numbers: CUST_PACK.BIN should be changed to higher numbers -> 1.02.08 st16mcu.bin should have higher numbers only in header (the first 2 numbers, that's the way it is in daves firmware) -> 1.02.08 The remaining should stay at 1.02.06.

In theory you can install a update modified this way and you'll be able to install daves firmware again. BUT CAUTION!!!: This is not tested! It's possible this won't work or even worse destroy your Unit!!!

Maybe I'm completely wrong!

ideasman69 commented 6 years ago

why would you update the firmware to start with? unless you purchased the headunit with this version, it seems unintelligent to update to this firmware when the only item in the change log is "The attention screen displayed at startup will close automatically". Especially if you had Dave's firmware installed prior...

MrCaspan commented 6 years ago

So I never even checked what my stock Firmware was. It was the one that was needed. I would have figured that there were more than 2 firmware version but i just used the stock version and upgraded it and no nag screen! Now if the developer could put a dimmer option in the settings screen so when you press the volume knob there is an option right there. My headlights are always on when the car is running and my illumination is always on dim mode and I cant see the screen during the day and its too bright at night. Wish there was a quick way to toggle the dim setting without going into 3 menus and scrolling down.

Sorry, I've been swamped with work. I'll take a look at it this weekend and see whats new.

Hi All,

I have the same problem. Unfortunately I read this topic after I upgraded to 1.02.07 :/ @superdavex your files will be available for 1.02.07 version as well? :) An other issue, I don't know it caused by the upgrade or not, by camera picture is upside down after the upgrade :/ any advance regarding this issue? :) Thank you all!

bainsford commented 6 years ago

Hey Superdavex, I'm also on the same 1.02.07 boat. Im willing to paypal you some $ to speed up this process! Thank you!!!!!

prgmaticoptimst commented 6 years ago

I had also upgraded to 1.02.07 by mistake. However, I followed the suggestion made by szorcc on April 15 (see above) and i was able to downgrade to 1.02.06 and then install the custom firmware and custom boot logo. For anyone who has upgraded to 1.02.07 and needs to downgrade to 1.02.06 this does the trick.

bainsford commented 6 years ago

Im really bad at this type of thing. I found his post rather confusing. Is there any way you can give me a step by step with a little more detail? Thank you so much

Download and install this firmware as you normally would.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hpg57dn3255r1oc/update.zip?dl=0

This will downgrade you to 1.02.06. From that point forward you should be able to proceed with superdavex's custom firmware.

Mine is a funny story. Updated to 1.02.07 and my steering remote stopped working. Followed the steps given in this forum to downgrade back to 1.02.06 but steering remote still not working. Went to the workshop, the technician who initially installed it found that the remote cable behind the unit got yanked off. Plugged it back in with additional cable tie and it's working again.
What are the odds that these 2 events could happen around the same time???

techobrien commented 5 years ago

My headunit shipped with 1.02.08. Trying to install 1.02.06 from 1.02.08 or 1.02.09 both fails with "Invalid Data". if I'm understanding the downgrade procedure correctly, I need to hex edit the 1.02.06 firmware such that it appears as >1.02.09 and re-run the update procedure. Is that right?

bainsford commented 5 years ago

Yup exactly

Just uploaded a firmware file for downgrading 1.02.09 to 1.02.06. It should work with 1.02.07 and 1.02.08, too. First install the linked firmware: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h1njmbav0t934rx/update.zip?dl=0 It should be recognized as 1.02.10. After Update you're back on 1.02.06 and should be able to install Daves firmware. Use at your own risk!

I actually just tried this and it reports that it is v1.02.06 in the firmware version, but I get the not able to update error when I try to install Superdave's mods.

To understand it correctly: You could install my firmware files and your radio now says it is on version 1.02.06? The difficulties occur only in the subsequent update to Dave's firmware?

I have Sony XAV AX100 headunits installed in 2 of my vehicles. I am having issues with Android Auto stability on one of them but not the other. The one with issues is on 1.02.06 and the functional one is 1.02.07. I see Sony's site is now up to 1.02.09, but see no way to get 1.02.07 to troubleshoot my (2) units on common firmware.

I would like to try Dave's firmware, but first I would like to rule out hardware issues. Was there ever anyone successful using szorcc's dropbox info after varnts reported difficulties?

jbtwo commented 4 years ago

Just want to comment on what worked for me. I recently purchased an XAV-AX100 with 1.02.09 firmware on it already.

Using the firmware provided by @szorcc in this comment https://github.com/superdavex/Sony-XAV-AX100/issues/12#issuecomment-466621586, I downgraded my unit from firmware version 1.02.09 to version 1.02.06. When the "update" process first started, it showed the new firmware was version 1.02.10, but after the update it shows 1.02.06 in the settings menu.

Once the firmware was downgraded, I was able to install dave's CautionDisable firmware and then the ChangeLogo script without any issues. My deck is now running with custom boot logos and no more caution screen. Thank you Dave and szorcc!!!

I faced some problem with my car stereo. Android auto is starting as usual on the phone, however the screen of Sony after 1 second suddenly turned black and did not respond to touches. All other functions work perfectly. I have changed several cables and it did not help. By using this file i downgraded the firmware to 1.02.06 and now it works as i need.

Found this one on Reddit:

„I actually just had this happen. (Literally sitting in my car updating as I type this. It seems like large USB sticks / (contrary to documentation) USB 3.0 sticks aren't supported. My first 16GB Kingston USB 3.0 stick failed at 50% and put it in a bootloop. Using the SDcard in the usb reader worked however. Same with a 2.0 USB stick I had lying about.

Try another USB stick (or like I did, an SD card in a USB converter), plug it in, press the tiny reset button under the rewind button. And the update should continue at 50% and take about 5 minutes.

Hope this helps!“

Many people have problems updating the firmware, even with regular updatefiles.

Does anyone have a current link for szorcc‘a firmware? The Dropbox link is dead. Thanks!

I‘ll create a new one. Unfortunately my data was encrypted and I was forced to delete it.
