The world is different now than when Pipelines launched. There are lots of great CI systems: GitHub Actions, Buildkite, GitLab CI. None of these are as good of UX as Heroku Pipelines, but they're good enough that they make a Pipelines-product more difficult to justify.
We are probably not going to build a Pipelines equivalent. We're a relatively small company and a CI system with an amazing UX is effectively a whole separate product.
However – the plumbing we've built is a nice foundation for an amazing CI product. If you're building something that'll get close to Pipelines level of awesome, come talk to use. Maybe we can work together. We'll definitely give you free infrastructure.
What would change our minds:
If we aren't able to work with another company to solve this, we may decide to add a fullstack/frontend team. We probably won't do this just because free users want Pipelines. We will do this if we believe this is the missing piece keeping several thousand paying customers from using Fly.io.
