Controller 'power saver mode' #6

The LCD's backlight LEDs are supposedly controllable by PWM. To conserve power,
would it be difficult to get the sketch to go into 'power saver mode' and dim
those down after 30 seconds or so of no touchscreen activity? And maybe have it
shut off entirely if no input from the touchscreen or nunchuk is heard for a
set time?
I'd think the most troublesome part would be coding the sketch for it to 'wake
up' on the next touch instead of making an input.

I looked at that early own... decided while possible, not really practical for
a touchscreen display that might need a quick poke to start a trigger.

The battery life is pretty darn good right now.
