A button could be placed in the Layouts window. After selecting a layout in the list, hitting the "Make Default"(with tooltip:make the selected layout default) button would make it default.
Perhaps add option to include plain text component as well. Plain text fonts can be modified globally with ease; export/import is easy as well. Advanced English uses plain text components( Classic template).
This is not very important so you may keep it at then end of priority queue.
