This is collection of ideas in private discussion between me and alexis.

My suggestion of general section or "center" in SMA options:

Naess: alright, i would say this needs "general" section definitely. which would hold news, help, links something like that. a "center" so to speak

Alexis.IncoLast Sunday at 6:44 PM I'll think about it, but I have a couples of reservations: a) If we create a landing section, it has to be really useful. What exactly do you put there that is actually useful ? b) It has to be a separate window from settings. It's really annoying if you need to make an additional click to get the installed plugins' section since that's what most people will be looking for, c) If it is separate then that leaves the landing section alone, d) I'm going to merge General and Logging together in a single general settings section (title TBD)

NaessLast Sunday at 6:45 PM a) for starters: the wiki. release notes. news, new plugins, announcements, contribution, b) you dont really navigate to installed plugins a lot so one click is no pain, also you could access the settings directly through the hotkey or right clicking SMA icon. double clicking SMA icon would open the center/landing page

Naess: rationale behind the center is that maybe we dont have right now anything too important to inform about, but perhaps in the future it is needed This opens a lot of possibilities to give users more information and us to signal them what is needed for example to move the project forward. (SM/SMA is best place to reach people)

And after my suggestion of some kind of voting system in different issue (#145), this idea came to alexis :

Alexis.IncoLast Tuesday at 12:36 AM Yeah that's a great idea

Alexis.IncoLast Tuesday at 12:36 AM You've just solved another issue We can use GH's reactions (the emoticons) to:

  • Report issues (e.g. add a +1 if you have the issue),
  • Give test feedback for features/bug fixes by adding a thumbs up or down (there would be a special post for it under the issue)
  • Create the poll system we mentioned before for people to vote on their favorite features And we can even use this as an incentive for people to create a SMA account (TBA) / GItHub account

Alexis.IncoLast Tuesday at 12:39 AM That's very very good Good job The "command center" idea is making more and more sense SMA Hub SuperMemo Hub
