Are you familiar with Quantum Country by Andy Matuschak and Michael Nielsen? I haven't gone through it (I was gonna try it now but my internet isn't doing great). It basically integrates SRS alongside reading about a new topic. I think it would be interesting to (at some point in the future) create a format allowing for the integration of pre-formulated cards alongside reading. Creating your own cards is obviously better in general, but for students or people with limited time guided SRS could be useful. I also think a similar pre-created card alongside article format would be very useful for helping people get into IR more quickly by helping them remember all the basics with well-formulated cards. This article more generally describes the approach of quantum country.

Also of potential interest, (it, unfortunately, refuses to load for me at the moment) ncase.me and Andy Matuschak's site both have interesting alternate paradigms for learning concepts.

I love the articles @rajlego suggested. Bret Victor's work contains similar themes - check out Up and Down the Ladder of Abstraction.

There might also be an application for that in creating an improved SuperMemo tutorial (in SuperMemo itself)
