Content will be an issue either way - with 3D even more so.
What about animations?
I think we're aligned on the flat plane + occasional blocks, top down 3D thingy.
For animations I think we want to look at two things:
For example I'd do players and enemies with just animated textures, but for something like water I might be tempted to go for a shader.
Sounds like a plan
Closing but I'd still reserve the option to throw in some simple geometry. Say mountains might need to be more like pyramids than boxes.
As I see it, we have three choices:
We'd still have tohe top down view of course. I'm leaning towards full 3D, although that becomes a content issue. Should prototype this further.
