Would you consider changing the name so it doesn't get confused with: http://trac.assembla.com/pkaudio/wiki/pyrtmidi

At least changing the module name so the two can live side by side?

First of all, thanks for your feedback. :)

I though about using a totally different name, but chose rtmidi-python because I wanted people to find the project when searching for (Rt)Midi and Python. It's not set in stone, though, and I'm open to suggestions.

As for the module name, that's a good point. It shouldn't clash with an installed pyrtmidi module, so that both can be installed side by side. I liked rtmidi for being short and canonical, but I'll try to come up with an alternative. Again, I'm open to suggestions. :)

Maybe I should also explain somewhere what distinguishes this project from pyrtmidi (PEP-8 vs. original names, Cython vs. C/C++, GitHub vs. Assembla).

I was going to suggest cyrtmidi.

For what it's worth, I uninstalled pyrtmidi to try this and haven't gone back. Very happy so far!
