Guidelines for addons

We have many low quality addons in STK. We need some guidelines to make sure a certain standard is met by addons.

Suggestion for tracks:

• all textures must be there
• license
• Screenshot for track
• Short description
• no variation/mods of tracks already in STK (this is a bit difficult I admit, hiker's idea here is to avoid having 10 variations of Fort Magma around - modifying is great to learn, but perhaps not to upload as addons??)
• no warning messages from STK, be it items that can't be dropped, or no rescue position (or so)
• must be playable with 20 karts (i.e. no items in a start position)
• AI must be able to finish the race
• if drivable in reverse, the last points must also be tested for reverse driving

Perhaps also adds a 'veto' right, if say 2 main developers agree that a track is not good enough or so.

The guidelines should go in the wiki and addons webpage.

Just modify the list above to add more items that should go into the guidelines.

Author: magned Suggestion for variations of tracks: what about adding an extra GUI filter called "Remixes" or so, where tracks which are non-original can be browsed. Original tracks can be defined as having their road meshes completely done from scratch.

Guidelines are currently being devised to ensure a more consistent check of common issues and to evaluate general quality ; for the purpose of rejecting or accepting an addon, for the purpose of determining if it should be featured, and also to give better feedback to authors to improve their work.
