How about something along the lines of this?
Elixir drop made from a curled surface.
Less symmetrical drop.
Maybe it makes more sense if the curled surface resembles a flame, rather than a drop. But not sure how...
Can try to make this work. Flame. Imagine flame colours. Not super clear in this one yet, but this would also be a curved surface.
I like simple... like three horizontal wavy lines in the shape of an S or a wave, like the surface of a river. Then, the favicon is simple and recognizable. Think of three of these: ~ flipped and turned 90 degrees.
Something like the attached.
Noticed this in the thread (at the top). Interesting, because the industrial (?) symbol for 'hot surface' is:
Hot, as in burning bird.
Simpler is better?
Hoping this doesn't give too much Tinder vibe... Maybe colouring can help with that.
To avoid looking like the Tinder logo, the curves in the "drop" would need to go the other direction (flip left-to-right). Look up the Elixir and Tinder logos, and you'll see that the direction is opposite.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if 'Surface' is written inComic Sans (left one)? Just saying. Would be funny.
Edit: Design maybe too tribal tattoo-like?
Last one for today.
Personally, I think that this logo fits the present style of surface-ui.org nicely.
SVG and PNG format. Let me know if you want any other formats, like .AI. Some formats cannot be sent over GitHub.
@coenbakker I ran a small survey to decide which logo we should take, and the winner was:
You can see it in action already in our new twitter account https://twitter.com/SurfaceUi.
Thank you so much!
Also, many thanks to everyone that brought ideas and helped us with this task! ❤️ 👊
@msaraiva Let me know if you need any specific formats. The svg I sent should get you most of the way.
@msaraiva The twitter avatar seems badly compressed, maybe worth a reupload?
@mfilej @msaraiva You can use this .png for Twitter. The .svg is extra, but cannot be uploaded to Twitter.
It would be good now to add the logo to the vscode icons for ".sface" file extension.
Maybe talk with the people from https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=vscode-icons-team.vscode-icons
Probably they have some way to include the icon
