Causative constructions #27

IIn a causative construction, the argument that undergoes causation is currently attached to the causative auxiliary in SUD. I propose to attach it to the complement verb by analogy with similar constructions.

(he made the car repaired by the garage) réparer-[comp:obl@agent]-> garagiste Passive construction : la voiture a été réparée par le garage (the car was repaired by the garage)réparée -[comp:obl@agent]-> garagiste

Decision: The agent of the caused verb remains attached to the causative auxiliary.

Examples: il fait travailler deux personnes (he makes two persons work)

fait -[comp:obj@agent]-> personnes

Il a fait réparer la voiture par le garage. (he made the car repaired by the garage)

fait -[comp:obl@agent]-> par

Correction of treebanks:

Add a justification in the universal treebank: when we extract a lexicon from the treebank, we want to avoid to have occurrence of the verb with an extra comp:obj@agent complement without any morphosyntactic feature on the verb indicating a redistribution. According to this principle, passive forms should have a feature Voice=Pass. See surfacesyntacticud/guidelines#20.
