HOW TO USE FREENOM DNS SERVICE

If you want to add your own A, MX, CNAME or other DNS records, you can: and of course at no charge.

STEP 1

For this, you first and foremost need to set the name servers for your domain to the name servers of Freenom.

You do this by:

Go to My Domains Click on Manage Domain Click on Management Tools Click on Nameservers Select Use default nameservers

Press Change Nameservers DONE!

STEP 2

Now you can setup your DNS records, by going to the Manage Freenom DNS area.

You do this by: Go to My Domains Click on Manage Domain Manage Freenom DNS

Now you can enter a variety of different DNS records, including A, MX and CNAME records.

Extra remarks:

It will take normally up to 30 minutes before name server changes are distributed within our DNS servers.

Thank you for using Freenom

When I input a blank CNAME record to na-west1.surge.sh I get the error Error occured: CNAME records should have a name set!

I tried setting an A record to 45.55.110.124 but am getting project not found on surge.

The silly thing is, I already have 2 freenom domains hosted successfully on surge and they have a blank CNAME pointed at na-west1.surge.sh. I'm not sure how I did it though!

Following as directed in Extra remarks.

--> name field left blank while adding (A record) works fine. --xx--> name field populated with [my domain name] and with priority 10 throws error

Error occured: CNAME records should have a name set!

fixed it by leaving the name field blank and adding [my domain name] in values with priority 10 help sourced from here
