Can I export midi patterns from Stochas? #63

This plugin is such a powerful tool! Thanks for supporting this. I would like to use the pattern it generates as MIDI notes, can I do that?

rudeog commented 3 years ago

The easiest way to do that is to record the vst output. I know that in Reaper, you can just do "record midi output", but I am not sure how easy it is to do on other hosts.

This would be the way to do it in Live as well.

Exporting directly from Stochas would be difficult, because the resulting patterns don't necessarily have a fixed length.

Thanks for commenting. Recording a riff Out of Stochas is not what I need as I'm interested in having the MIDI patterns so I can play with it further in the piano roll. I'll dig into FL further to see if there's an option 🙏

@asafcha check midi monitor, you can get it from vst4free

Thanks, buddy. It actually lead me to a new (to me) and a very interesting grid seq - HY-RPE2.

You can record midi clips in Ableton Live by

  1. Place Stochas on a midi track and place your synth on a second midi track.
  2. Arm a second midi track for recording and set the midi from to Stochas and the midi channel to Stochas.

I discovered this great plugin today. Thanks for it. I use Apple Logic. Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out how the stochas recording function works in Logic. Maybe someone knows. Thank you.

oh i figured that out in our discord. hold on... yeah here you go

To the best of my knowledge to do that in logic you send the midi out to IAC on an external instrument from stochas then bring it back in to your track and it is recordable. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjhq6KLo_L5AhXHrIkEHXdTBDEQFnoECAsQAw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D-JOZCITL-Og&usg=AOvVaw13TwjNm6Lh0eIR3rT904J5 theres a video showing you how Uf there's another way I would love to know
