Hey guys, we're based at a place called the Rainmaking Loft next to Tower Bridge. They have an event space happy to ask for availability - free to book, big enough space for 50-60 people i would estimate, probably more
@alexloi that sounds good, although ordering sushi in makes handling money and order preferences more complicated than if we had it at an actual sushi restaurant?
Yup fair point, just keep it in mind in case you guys need a fallback / too many people want to attend or you want to combine it with js talks or somthng
One thing we've been considering in San Francisco to avoid the too many people issue is somewhere between 16 and 20 people to split into multiple meetups geographically
It might be good to start small anyway. I'm sure we could manage to get enough Sushi for 50-60 people as long as nobody expects a full meal, but if we start somewhere smaller we could do that to gauge what kind of interest to expect, then find somewhere larger (such as this place in Tower Bridge which sounds good!) if we need to :ok_hand:
Hi there, I love sushis and I'm a fullstack JavaScript engineer. Does the meetup has a specific subject or just need to talk about JavaScript ? Great idea guys !
I agree, let's keep it small and relaxed. @yrezgui no particular subjects/frameworks/libraries, just JavaScript and good sushi!
Interested! Also I work for TechHub in Campus and in case one day we need a big space I can ask for Campus event space :microphone: Speaking about sushi sometimes we ordered it from Abokado in Old Street and it's not bad.
When: I suggest to run it on International SUSHI Day (18th June 2014)
@orliesaurus I'm running a GitHub event in London on the evening of that day, but could do lunchtime?
Abokado is great, and lunchtime could work, I guess it depends on travel for most people. On 12 May 2014 08:54, "Andrew Nesbitt" notifications@github.com wrote:

At some point we should consider the discussion topic of "rolling your own solution" for certain problems, simply because of the sushi tie-in with rolling your own.
I mean, only if that's a subject which warrants any kind of discussion.
I liked the original concept of a group of people sat around a table. Are there any suggestions for a sushi place and what area should be looking in. I'm based in the city.
Ok, how does Lunchtime on Wednesday 18th June sound as the first event? We just need a nice, large-ish sushi place we can inform that a group of us are coming, perhaps in central or east London, somewhere near a tube station ideally.
:+1: if it's near Old Street / Campus that would be cool for me
Some sushi places in Shoreditch: http://www.yelp.co.uk/search?find_desc=sushi&find_loc=Shoreditch,+London
:+1: Sushi+JS sounds great. I'd suggest dinner instead to allow people doing office hours to relax more and stay around longer. No idea about sushi places in the city, in Camden there are 2: http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/hi-sushi-salsa-london is pretty big and has an all-you-can-eat option during the week; and www.bentocafe.co.uk which can probably arrange two big round tables at the back.
From the Shoreditch sushi list Pham Sushi looks good. If that is a bit expensive for lunch Tsuru is ok.
I'm in for Wednesday 18th :+1: can only really do lunch if it's nearish to old street/shoreditch/hackney though, so happy to wait for evening.
We could always do a http://doodle.com/ poll.
Ok, I'm definitely in London on 18th so lets make this happen, http://www.phamsushi.co.uk/ looks like the perfect location, I'll get in touch with them about booking a large table.
:+1: Should I create a doodle? Do you need help with something?
Sounds good! On 2 Jun 2014 15:28, "Andrew Nesbitt" notifications@github.com wrote:

@mtt87 not much point making a doodle as we're trying to get it on International Sushi Day, I've updated the issue and have emailed http://www.phamsushi.co.uk/, will look at getting a tito set up based on how many people they can handle.
Cool
I've booked a table for 15 at Pham Sushi at 12:30pm, I'm sure we can get a few more in as well if extras turn up.
@terinjokes can you help me set up a tito page for the event? Either giving me access to the sushijs tito or doing it for me?
I gave @andrew access to the tito this past weekend when pinged on Twitter. Just now saw this issue, sorry for the delay.
Thanks @terinjokes, I'll be putting the ticket page up tonight.
Registration is now open: https://ti.to/sushijs/london-june-2014
Thanks, @andrew! Ticket reserved. See you all there!
We're also putting a GitHub Meetup on the night after if anyone is interested: https://github.com/blog/1848-london-meetup-19th-june
Today's the day! This is just a helpful reminder :sushi:
See you later
:sake: :sushi: :japanese_ogre:
Sorry guys, I thank it was tonight. Busy at lunch :/
Thanks for coming everyone!
It was great.
Hope to see you all in the next one 👍
Mauro.

 See you at the next one, or actually I'm looking for the london.nodeconf tickets that should be released today (when?)
@mtt87 I'm not sure when they are released, @dscape will know more.
Pinged some folks about it, lets see what they say
Anybody who missed the last one and fancies coming to this month's, it's on the 23rd of July at a brilliantly-named Sushi place called Life. Tito link: https://ti.to/sushijs/london-july-2014
When: Wednesday 18th June - 12:30pm Where: http://www.phamsushi.co.uk/
