Similar module for eDocs #1

Good morning,

We are using this module in our Part 11 compliant instance of REDCap and were wondering if there was a similar module for the eDocs functionality, or if this module could be used in that regard. Happy to provide more information if needed.

I don't understand what you mean by similar measure for edocs... Can you describe what you are trying to accomplish?

Thank you for getting back to me, we are trying to use Shibboleth authentication for the eDocs module - specifically for Hard Copy upload. I saw on the forums that other schools either used this module or a similar module to accomplish this. Do you have any information in that regard? Happy to provide any needed additional information, thank you very much for your help!

Sorry - I just don't know what the 'eDocs' module is. Is that a special EM for uploading consents directly to the file repository? Not familiar with it.

Hi Andy,

It’s a standard feature that gets configured from the control center in the same space as record lock and eConsent in order to create and store a non-editable copy of a document uploaded directly to an instrument field. When turned on it each upload gets passed to the same authentication method as the record locking functionality. Happy to provide more information if needed.

Hi Aaron -- sorry I never responded. Just investigating an issue with versions 12.5.4 and above related to esignature and read this again. I haven't looked into what you suggest, but if you think it is needed perhaps you could share a document with screen shots, etc. Is this something that should be done by Rob as part of REDCap or is it something for an EM like this?

Thanks for following up. I do wonder if this should be included as part of REDCap, essentially we would like the eDocs module to be able to work with Shibboleth. Not only the electronic signature functionality, but the file upload functionality as well. You reminded me that I should check the release notes as this may exist already, if it's not on the roadmap for REDCap I wonder if an EM would make sense. Happy to provide more information if needed.

@aolsen2 Okay - I finally get it. you want these additional file upload security measures to work with Shibboleth...

We may be going down 21CFR11 in which case this might apply so I'll have to review this. I agree it would be nice to use the same 'verification' mechanism for all of them. So, maybe in 3-6 months I might have something of a more general solution :-)
