Trying to stand on the broken stool documents your failed attempt to sit 
on it.

Trying to sit on the mended stool tells you of your success in standing on 
it.

I've removed specific references to sitting/standing on the stool. You climb 
onto the 
stool, and once you're there, you're just on it. That seems like the best way 
to go for 
now.
