Final Presentation #19

Open michaelweinold opened 2 months ago

michaelweinold commented 2 months ago

Please prepare a PowerPoint presentation, addressing the following points:

  1. What is our research question? This could be: "How can we accurately forecast future air travel demand on arbitrary routes?"
  2. Why is this useful? This could be: "LCA studies of future air transport need this number to accurately predict absolute fuel consumption. In order to make an assessment of intermodal competition, we need to know absolute numbers. AND most country-level forecasts are proprietary and/or expensive."
  3. What are our methods? This could be: _"Regression of historical GDP/RPK data, informed by a systematic literature review..."_
  4. What are our preliminary results? This could be an excerpt from the literature review table, the GDP/RPK figure, maps, etc.
  5. What are we planning to do until the end of the project?

[!IMPORTANT]
Please re-read the Scientific Research Guidance document and the Guidelines for Semester, BSc and MSc Projects at PSI-LEA and ETHZ-ESA (sent to you via email on 05.03.2024). These documents are reasonable summaries of what Prof. McKenna will expect.

@dodedic & @arebe337, please collect some of the feedback Prof. McKenna provided. I'll provide some starting points:

I tried to make the importance of this issue clear, @dodedic & @arebe337.

Do you still remember the feedback you received? I certainly don't - that's why I wrote some of it down 2 weeks ago.

Complete this issue ASAP, please.

Hi @michaelweinold , sorry that this has not been done to your satisfaction. While both Ben and I realised the importance of this issue wo both thought that the bullet points you wrote down earlier in this thread actually already pretty much summarised the top-level feedback we received quite well, especially with respect to the feedback that our research has certain limitations. So in the meantime we have been focusing on the other issues. I certainly can't remember the exact details/wording of the feedback anymore but I know that those were the main points raised. We will take greater care of more detailed note-keeping next time.
