I don't understand this. APERTURE it is defined only for spectroscopic frames. (no for imaging) Maybe you want to say that APERTURE should be present only in 1D spectra and not in 2D spectra ?
Yes - you're right. I just went back and read that in the science data product standards document. Leave it as is ... at some point I was asked to remove it from the spectral headers. My code does this when creating the FITS binary tables.
This keyword is only required in imaging frames
