OBs not following the PESSTO standards #37

Closed svalenti closed 9 years ago

I'm reducing some recent data for NGC7552-OT and the OBs used are NOT STANDARDS !!! in october 2014:

They observed a EFOSC spectrum with grism 16 nd no blocking filter They observed SOFI photometry with a mask not uniform (for example 4 ON, 2 OFF)

please can someone check that the OBs are standard ? Can we send a remind to observers ?

I checked the EFOSC2 master OBs http://wiki.pessto.org/pessto-operation-groups/observing-management-team/pessto-obs-information

They are OK - all the Gr16 OBs have a blocking filter. But Cosimo needs to double check these too.

Observers have either an old version or made their own - one possible cause of confusion is that there are multiple versions of the follow-up OBs listed at the bottom of that page. Cosimo please delete all of these.

Also check SOFI. It looks like observers made a mistake and made their own - but let's check

I confirm that all the OBS with a Gr16 have a blocking filter. What Stephen said is plausible but shouldn't be done. We should strongly encourage all the observers to download the latest OB and check if a new set of OBs has been created. Furthermore, I would suggest that non-standard OBs should get approval by one of us to avoid later problem in the reduction. For example bot Stephen's and mine special OBs for 2013hx have been prepared to be pipeline friendly!

Also SOFI OBs are fine, all with the same numbers of ON and OFF images.

I have now deleted all the old files even if the main links of the page point to the latest versions of each OB set.

Stefano, if you want to investigate further you should contact the observers or the object PI.
