Use the functionality that C# as a language enables. #4

The package is currently quite sparse in its use of more advanced C# features.

Go through the code and see where we can use such functionality as LINQ.

Work has been done to in the spirit of this issue as of 3e1241885e414948f4e70a4b71a1e5c5a1dcac3f. I'm closing this issue since this is more of an overall goal to strive for than an actual issue to resolve.
