Make code a bit more readable

(Can also be done in conjunction with #8)

The code is a bit spaghetti like, as well as just some bad formatting.

[x] All block statements must be surrounded by {}
[ ] Shorten the length of lines a bit (ie do NOT put multiple statements/declarations on one line)
[ ] Add spacing between code blocks
