not bridged -> doesn work after restore

bridged works, but you have to wait some time for the browser to access the VM

Installed https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/windows inside VM URL is http://192.168.178.48:8123/

• Wait
• Select to restore snapshot from other system
• Hit "Restore"
• Nothing happens
• "Connection lost. Reconnecting..."
• Wait more
• eventually, HA comes up inside the VM, check with http://192.168.178.48:8123/
• Version is exactly the one from the snapshot BUT with the newer OS underneath (installed from the step above).
• Lets try an update to the latest version ...
• update to 2021.12.7 works nicely
  • Energy data is still there, restored well
• check the logs
  • nothing abnormal.

BUT I suspect that the gas counter sends data to the VM and not to HA (there was little data arriving in HA during that time). Correction: it was not the VM, recorder of live HA stopped recording :-/ at 300000 entries or somesuch.

• Fire up VM from (C:\Users\swa\Documents\Virtual Machines\HA), inside VMWare Workstation "HA".
• If stuck at "Autoboot-" hit 2.
• To exit VMWare screen hit CTRL-ALT -- see https://gist.github.com/datacodesolutions/3730430
• Access the VM with http://192.168.178.107:8123/ (the IP address display on screen, not the one in tickets above)
• Login with normal credentials, see keepass
• Start Google Drive backup Add-on -- does not work, as the add-on downloads to local PC and not the VM :-/
• Instead: fire up Samba add-on
• in windows explorer enter \\192.168.178.107\ (only one slash at the end). credentials see add-on config
• copy backup to \\192.168.178.107\backup
• do a restore (un-tick some of the stuff you don't need

• download HA windows image for VirtualBox to temp folder

• virtual box installation; data in C:\Users\swa\VirtualBox VMs

• create new VM and copy the disk file from temp directory to the Vbox director

• enable EFI mode and bridging mode before starting the VM

• open http://192.168.178.109:8123/ (or whatever is displayed)

• now the system is a clean install (preparing)

• hit restore from previous backup and select the latest FULL backup from google drive. Hit upload.

• In parallel check in CLI if backup is there.

• Once fully received, proceed and select ONLY

  • core
  • all folders (not the backup folder)
  • duckdns
  • mariadb
  • nginx
  • samba
  • phpmyadmin

• wait for 45min ...

• ab und zu mal status in CLI abfragen oder die Website ohne /onboarding aufrufen. Kann sein, dass das "Full backup" Fenster nicht von allein verschwindet.
