Raspberry printer, cups #90

Installation and configuration

Then run 

sudo cupsctl --remote-admin
sudo cupsctl --share-printers
sudo cupsctl --remote-any
sudo usermod -aG lpadmin brotherpi
sudo systemctl restart cups

I have had no success with Brother-specific drivers, e.g.

sudo apt-get install printer-driver-brlaser
sudo apt-get remove printer-driver-brlaser
sudo systemctl restart cups

Then connect to https://brotherpi:631/ All configuration files are in /etc/cups/ppd

Finally remove all references but A4 from the ppd files

ImageableArea
PaperDimension

As an editor use sudo geany

Misc stuff

You might be able to speed up the printing process by making the printer a RAW printer.DO this by selecting the Printer model as RAW when selecting the printer and installing the drivers on the computer.This will reduce the CPU load significantly.

I reduced the resolution to 150x150 dpi, performance is now ok (10-20 seconds per page), whereas with 600x600 dpi it took several minutes per page.
