Hackathon participant prizes? #241

Discussion more than an issue, but should we include online Hackathons (available worldwide) where the hackathon has a participant prize?

For example: https://alexamultimodal.devpost.com/

There's obviously bigger prizes to be had too, but this would seem to fit the requirement of "swag for dev" in that any valid entry will receive the prize.

Downside is that no-one would be able to verify this on a per-hackathon basis, since almost all of them will only send out the prizes at the end of the event.

Any thoughts?

I can confirm that Alexa Hackathons do give out the prizes but they are VERY slow in the processing

Oh yes, I've had prizes from them too but they're generally a couple of months after the Hackathon has ended. Obviously that means there's no way of verifying a particular Hackathon before it ends, we just have to go on the fact that others have given out in the past.

I guess it's similar to hacktoberfest in that regard.
