It looks like the pre-requisite, cdo, is not installed. What do you get if you issue:
cdo -V
at the command line?

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly the other day. I ended up having to uninstall cdo and reinstall it and then everything worked!

I am trying to install the cmipdata package onto a OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6 following the pip install through github link on the website. When I am trying to import cmipdata into Python2.7 I get the following error in the screen shot below.
