hrmm...tried this on a different domain and it works flawlessly...fortunately,
the
initial domain was a test site. I don't see any differences in the two setups
(other
than domain name).

i've narrowed this problem down to the WP theme i'm using. (once i moved my
modified
theme over to the working domain and activated it, the working domain's google
calendar plug-in stops working. if i use the old theme on the test site, the
google
plug-in works fine)
Now, i need to figure out what the problem is with the theme that is causing it
to
fail (Peacemaker is the failing theme, if you are wondering).

figured it out - I think I accidentally deleted wp_head() function in
header.php;
re-adding it fixed problems

Hi
I am experiencing this problem - the problem of the "loading" circle animation
appearing endlessly, without calling the calendar feed into WordPress.
I am setting up websites (in a PHP5, CPanel environment) underneath
unitingchurch.org.au.
Problem sites can be seen at:
http://adelaideplains.unitingchurch.org.au/coming-events/
http://standrews.unitingchurch.org.au/coming-events/
Working samples can be seen at:
http://dernancourt.unitingchurch.org.au/coming-events/
http://presbyterysynodsa.unitingchurch.org.au/coming-events/
I am using the same setup method for all sites - all have correct Google API
keys.
This is such a great plugin when it works.
Please help ...

Have you verified "wp_head()" function exists in your header.php? Does your
calendar
load if you switch to the default template? That was how I tested it out and
eventually compared code to realize that I was missing that function (I must've
gotten trigger-happy when cleaning up code.).
If so, which template are you using (I can test it on mine)?

Hi, I am having this exact same problem. Calendar set up properly, correct API,
but never-ending loading
icon.
I am using the default theme, and I've changed it a bit for design purposes,
but I have not (and never would)
change the functions.php file. I did do a search of the code on that file, and
there was no wp_head() found. Is
this the problem? Where would I add it? I am primarily a designer so I'm lost
as to what's wrong!
The link is
here:http://www.networkingeventsny.com/events-training-calendars/events-calendar
/
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

The call to the wp_head() function on mine was missing from the header.php file
(not
the code in functions.php, if it's even there...I didn't go that far). When I
added
the call to wp_head() somewhere in header.php, it instantly worked.
I'm a designer, too; so I probably won't be much help on a good explanation
beyond
that. I just compared the two themes (one worked and the one i wanted to use
didn't)
until I figured out what was missing from the theme I wanted to use.

Thanks for clarifying - I just checked my header.php file and the call to
wp_head() is already there... so guess
that means I'm still stumped. Bummer - I have no idea why it's not working.
Could it be WordPress 2.6 doesn't
support it?

The other thing that caused me problems initially (that gave the same result)
was
that I was testing on one domain with another's API key, which doesn't work.
Not so
sure if that might be a problem, but worth verifying.
Original comment by daviden...@gmail.com
on 22 Jul 2008 at 11:56
Hmmm - that's definitely not the problem, as I'm using the correct domain and
API.
The calendar is still not working though. I guess I'll have to find another
solution!
Very frustrating! Thanks for all of your help, though. Much appreciated.

In the settings, make sure that the Wiki Markup question is set to yes or no.
Mine
was undefined by default, I left it, and it threw JS errors. As soon as I set
it to
No, the calendar displayed just fine.
Original comment by kennycar...@gmail.com

I believe this problem may be related to issues others are having when
wordpress is
not located in the root directory. For example, if your wordpress installation
is at
www.mysite.com/blog instead of www.mysite.com
My site is not in the root directory. I had the plugin installed, and it
appeared to
be working fine, except that when the calendar initially loaded, the "loading"
gif
image was broken. I took a look at the source of the plugin, and noticed that
the
image source was hard-coded as "/wp-content/plugins/wpng-
calendar/images/loading_large.gif" when in fact mine was located in the blog
directory, so I had to change it to "/blog/wp-content/plugins/wpng-
calendar/images/loading_large.gif". There is another hard-coded image source a
few
lines below that.
Well, that fixed the broken gif. However, looking through the code I found
several
more paths for .js files, thickbox file, the css file, etc., all of which were
hard-
coded to the root directory. So, I changed them to reflect the fact that
everything
was in the "blog" folder.
That's when the plugin broke. Now I'm experiencing the neverending loading gif.
I
will let you know if I find any solutions for this.

I had the same problem, and all suggestions above didn't get the thing working.
Than
I began to deactivate other plugins, trying to find some kind of plugin
incompatibility. Eureka! I found that "WordPress Hashcash" can´t be used with
WPNG

I'm having this issue, as well. wp_head is fine, I've tried the default theme,
no
change. Blog address / url is correct.
Error log shows:
Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable
configuration
error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use
'LogLevel
debug' to get a backtrace.
When I set a higher limit, I get:
RewriteOptions: MaxRedirects option has been removed in favor of the global
LimitInternalRecursion directive and will be ignored.
This error happens regardless of theme and nothing additional has been added to
.htaccess or apaches settings. Any ideas?

]. I had to alter the 'ignore list' in Speedy's configuration to ignore the
following
wpng scripts: jquery.js?ver=6124, date.js?ver=alpha-1, functions.js?ver=0.85,
thickbox.js?ver=3.1, wiky.js?ver=1.0.

Not sure if this will help or not, but we were having the problem with the
never-
ending spinning wheel on one site but not on another (different calendars and
API
keys).
The solution was two-fold: (1) the wp_head line was missing from the theme's
header.php file, and (2) we were using a Google Apps for Your Domain calendar.
When
we pasted the code into the header.php file and switched to a "normal" Google
Calendar, things worked fine.

Same for me in Opera 10.10 at http://www.lovelandhabitatforhumanity.org/, the
wpng_calendar widget in the sidebar.
I'm using Version 0.8.5 on Win7 or XP Pro.
I know my theme is causing this problem in Opera (and the Thickbox that never
loads
in Safari) - the problem goes away when I change to the default theme - but not
being
a programmer I have no idea how to test or approach fixing it. I've checking
these
other things:
wp_head() call is present in header.php
No errors reported by Firebug
Wiki markup is set to 'no' in config screen
The link on the config screen ends in '/full'
API key is correct
Can someone give me some direction about how to find out what's causing this
within
my theme? It's a custom theme based on the minimalist WP-Framework.

I used suggestion #36 but did not replace the %40 just replaced basic with
full. PS on the Google Calendar backend there are a bunch of different options.
I used the "PUBLIC XML" option and changed to full.
Hope this helps. AND NOTE, that the plugin worked with the default feed. SO
when you install first use the default feed to make sure it works. If the
default feed comes up then all the other technical issues should not be the
problem. It will most likely be a problem with the feed link.
