Please also note that this would be an incredibly minor addition, as the guesswork inherent to next
is already implemented in focus.
I would not be surprised to see a <10 line PR for this, if the addition is greenlit
This would also be an acceptable workaround for the "insert before another window" feature which I sorely miss.
I understand that this is a drop in the bucket of 913 open issues and 130 open prs in this repo alone. If I can at all bribe¹ you into adding this feature I will, if only you let me.
¹money, a PR, whatever floats your boat
Trying to adopt swaywm from awesomewm I ran into this inconsistency. So
focus next
exists, letting me ergonomically cycle through windows. Sadly, amove next
for moving the focused window in the same way is not available.Let me persuade you: My bindings are
Super+space
for focus next and would beSuper+Shift+space
for move next. This allows for far better ergonomics all around. I don't have to consciously think about direction (I sometimes mix up left and right, we all do). The space bar is the single most ergonomic key.A
window managerwayland compositor only allowing the clumsy directional ways of *-management is a bit disappointing.
