Using the preview release for RStudio #581

Hi everyone:

I would like to suggest teaching out of the preview release from rstudio, especially since there is a topic covering knitr. The current rmarkdown package is very nicely integrated into the preview release, and would help promote code documentation and integrating text with r code and r output.

Thanks for the suggestion, @chendaniely. The new integration of knitr with pandoc is really powerful. However, it is my understanding that these new features are already integrated into the most recent stable version of RStudio.

As for updating our content, the novice lesson on knitr is extremely short because of lack of time. Thus these new features won't really change its content much. However, the intermediate lesson on knitr could use a update based on these new features. Care to submit a PR?

Thank for the update @jdblischak, I'll read through the current lessons and see what I can add.

I just switched over to the preview release about a month ago, and made life so much nicer. Did not see that they updated the stable release 5 days ago.

Alright, sounds like a plan, @chendaniely. Thanks again.

Also, I'd encourage you to join the R-discuss mailing list. It's the best channel for getting feedback on R-related issues since not all SWC R-instructors closely follow the GH issue tracker.
