passphrase secures notifications not working #321

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set passphrase on phone and desktop (e.g. 'a')
2. Send test notification
3. Nothing happens

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected to see a notification. This works when no passphrase is set. I'm
100% positive the passphrase is identical on both devices

Froyo nexus 1 + snow leopard mac running multidroidnotifier 0.5.1

What version of Android are you using?

Original issue reported on code.google.com by apa...@gmail.com on 16 Dec 2010 at 4:35

After I finished typing in the bug, I tried to send a test-notification and it
worked (with what I remember being a one-letter passphrase that hadn't been
working). I typed in a more complicated passphrase, nothing worked. I typed a
very simple, but multi-letter passphrase and it worked. So either there's a
weird thing about passphrase (unlikely) or this is a matter of user error.

Feel free to mark this as closed, as I'm less convinced this is reproducible.

I'm keeping this open to at least try to reproduce it. THere was a bug earlier
which was trimming passwords to a specific size (I think it was 8 characters).
You do have the latest version of both the desktop and android apps, I assume?

I indeed had the latest versions.

HTC Evo with latest version; Windows 7 with latest version of desktop client on
the laptop. I set a password on the desktop client, but every time I save the
settings, it clear out the text box and I don't see any notifications anymore.
Works fine without using the passphrase.
