In order to avoid incorrect routing in case of payment of QR-bills with software which does not support them, or by users who mistakenly try to pay them as plain old ESR (invoice slips with reference number), some banks recommend that the reference number should start with the traditional BESR-ID (6 digit prefix).
Is this only a recommendation for practical reasons during the transition phase?
