While working on https://github.com/swipely/iam-docker/issues/29 I found https://github.com/tools/godep is archived and it is recommended to use dep instead. As far as I can tell, the only potential issue in switching to dep is that it requires Go 1.9 instead of the current Go 1.6 requirement.
