Pidgin throws an XMPP delivery error upon trying to issue a command, phone not sending notifications to Pidgin #4

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set up using the same gmail address for sending/receiving, as instructed in
the wiki (all settings/addresses verified). gtalksms shows it is "connected" in
notification bar
2. In Pidgin, using my gmail account I added myself as a contact, I show up in
my conacts list.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When I issue commands to the device, Pidgin throws an XMPP message error (Code
503). Also when receiving an SMS the phone did not seem to send any
notification to Pidgin.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.0 of the app, Pidgin version 2.6.5

I've notice somes issues today with Gmail and Jabber (with the old GTalkSMS
version too). It's maybe due to a server side issue.
Anyway you can create another account for your android phone (for me it's the
better way).
I'll investigate on it.

Did you try to create an extra account for GTalkSMS?

I also am experiencing this problem, using v3.2 of GTalkSMS and v1.5b2 of Adium
(libpurple core). I use a jabber.org ID for my phone, and GTalk for myself.

Curiously, the problem went away when I attempted to message the phone from
within Google's web-based GTalk, in Google Plus. I can't seem to reproduce it
reliably. I've also gotten error code 404 from Adium, which doesn't make sense
at all.

Perhaps the web chat method is a workaround?

Could you try another XMPP client, e.g. Gajim, and see if the error occurs here
too?

Should be fixed by the new roster management with the new UI

I'm getting the same error, but have a workaround for my scenario. When I first
open pidgin, it says that my phone gmail account is online, but when I try to
send a command, I get a 503 error. If I open up GTalkSMS on my phone and send a
command through the app, it appears in pidgin and I can continue to send
commands without the 503.

Can you try to remove and re-invite the contact via GTalkSMS?

I removed and re-invited via GTalkSMS, which fixed the issue for the day.
Somehow my usernames got mixed up.

I was also having issues with it connecting automatically. I manually set the
server to google, as per the instructions, and everything seems better now.
