I am using linux mint. how to install source code pro and have the spacemacs detect it?

Please refer to the documentation to install fonts for your specific OS. For linux the instructions can be found here https://github.com/syl20bnr/spacemacs#linux if you don't have the two needed fonts available via your OSes package manager install it manually as per the instructions.
