layouts micro-state help interferes with its functioning #5246

Description

When in layouts micro-state with help, several keys do not work. *messages* shows

ad-Advice-split-window-internal: Sum of sizes of old and new window don't fit

Reproduction guide

  • Enter layouts micro-state (SPC l)
  • Ensure that help is on (? if it's not)
  • Attempt to run helm (l)

Observed behaviour: "Sum of sizes of old and new window don't fit" is echoed and micro-state is exited.

Expected behaviour: Helm window opens.

Additional notes: When help is disabled, it works just fine.

I can't reproduce this on develop.

I can't reproduce this too. Have you updated your packages recently?

I can verify that I see the same error. I updated spacemacs through itself, and also tried manually doing git pull. The error persists. Let me know what other info I can provide.

Just to be sure, have you updated the packages with [Update packages] on the *spacemacs* buffer?

Also, can you provide a backtrace by reproducing the error with debug (SPC t D) enabled?

Yep, I've updated packages multiple times since I first got this error. It says "All packages are up to date."

I often get this error. I cannot reproduce the error as rpglover described (with helm-layouts). I get this error whenever I invoke a transient state while which-key is visible.

For instance: if I press SPC wait a beat then press l it returns the error ad-Advice-split-window-internal: Sum of sizes of old and new window don't fit

If I press SPC l quickly, quicker than the delay in which-key has, then it opens up just fine. So most commands I do regularly I don't notice.

Updated all packages and spacemacs. Describe system below...

Can anyone who experienced the bug confirm that it is fixed after updating packages? (specifically, Evil needs to be updated)
