EXPO/DR screen should show Flight Phase switches #58

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
On the EXPO/DR main screen, the flight phase switches selected should be shown.

In order to keep them in the same order (left to right) as they appear in the
detail screen (top to bottom) I propose ...

Example:

AIL 20 60 FP0 AIL

... where in normal use, it would be unlikely to have both a flight phase and a
normal switch shown. So then ...

AIL 20 60 --- AIL

... or ...

AIL 20 60 FP0 ---

While we're at it, there is plenty of room to add curve and mode also

---

QUESTION: What *is* "Mode" anyway? It takes values [---|Pos|Neg]. What does it
mean? Expo goes from -100 to +100 ... is that not enough?

The mode (perhaps not the best word) is the gimbal range where the expo will
apply: above center, below center, both.

I do agree with the FP shown on the screen. The problem is, where? Perhaps it's
more important (and more used) than this mode!

Did you see my example above? I did not mean on "main views" screen. Just on
the "main EXPRO/DR" screen -- the one before you edit details.

Re. the Mode thing

Hmmm... perhaps the word "Apply" or "Only" instead of "Mode"?
Pos/Neg is OK.

It does need changing because you've had to tell me this before. The word
"Mode" definitely does not trigger anything in my head. I think "Apply" is the
better word. Short for "Applies to" or "Apply to".

The problem is, that this word "Apply" would also fit to FP, switch. I do
agree that mode is not the best word, but Apply, I would say the same.
Range? Course? You speak english :)

How about "Where", then?

It's a common word used at the end of mathematical formulas for extra clarity;
"... where C is the speed of light.", etc. So I think it fits here well.

"When" is probably in better context actually. But not commonly used for this
sort of thing? I like "When" best though.

May I let you do the change (after your breakfast naturally)?

OK. I need to do the display of both Switch and Phase on the EXPO/DR first
screen too.

An example of a screen where everything cannot fit, then the
mode/range/when/where thing disappears as it is the lowest interesting.

I think the curve is the least important and that all the 'conditions where
this line is active' are the more important. We could just show a 'C' is a
curve is involved. (Change the order of fields in details screen so that curve
is last, too.) But even that does not fit with full character spacing ...

         11111111112
12345678901234567890
AIL -100 100 !FP0 !AIL X>0

This is a problem in other places too -- the '!' takes up a whole character
space, yet is seldom actually ever used.

I propose we adjust putsSwitches/Phases to show the 'not' (!) condition some
different way, which still only takes up 3 character positions. Perhaps a
strike-through.

I will experiment.

I do like the idea. Let's hope it gives good results on screen, sometimes we
are deceipted!

Oh -- |x| means ABS(X). Oops. Then we do have to go back to ---. :/

I made it fit. :D It's a tight squeeze. But I think it looks OK, especially
considering this situation will be rare. (Se attached snapshot).

I change the '!' to a vlineStip to save some space, also using pixels that I
think look a little better than '!'. I also brought the digit (0-4) left 1px in
FP. A side-effect is that I think it looks better in edit mode now, too. More
clear.

Some other 1px move let and right here and there.

(I could not make any kind of strike-through or whatever look good.)

Re. switching the weight and expo values. (I forgot that comment above).

That would be OK, but the title should then change to DR/EXPO (which I prefer
anyway) so that the title and the order of values is the same.

Agreed?

100% agreed! I do like the little "!"

Also perhaps the curve at the very end of the line, you gave the reason ;)

Original comment by bson...@gmail.com on 11 Oct 2011 at 8:54

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
OK. So we'll make it now DR/EXPO -- sounds better when spoken too. "Dual rate
expo" is easier to say in English. It is this way around on the Spektrum stuff,
too.

And I'll move curve to the end.
